Sir Humphry Davy, Baronet, (born Dec. 17, 1778, Penzance, Cornwall, Eng.—died May 29, 1829, Geneva), English chemist who discovered several chemical elements (including sodium and potassium) and compounds, invented the miner's safety lamp, and became one of the greatest exponents of the scientific method.

Sir Humphry Davy was a Cornish chemist and an inventor too.
He was born on 17 December 1778 and died at the age of 51 on 29 May 1829.
He was highly influenced by Benjamin Thompson.
He discovered Potassium, Barium, Boron, Sodium, Calcium and magnesium.
