Fazlullah was born in the Swat Valley near the border with Afghanistan and became a cleric when he was young. In 2002, when his father-in-law Sufi Muhammad was captured by the Pakistani Army, Fazlullah became the new head of the TNSM, which was the terrorist organization that his father started.
