Some of the personalities who have contributed a lot towards formation of Maharashtra are Yashwant Chavan, S.M. Joshi, P.K. Atre etc.

We can not even forget the contribution for Uddhavrao Patel as well as many others who contributed towards the birth of the Organisation called "Samyukta Mahaseva" for welfare of others.

There were many other leaders like that of Chhatrapati Shivaji who also contributed at an early stage.

However this is just a part of history that resulted into formation of Maharashtra.  There are many other people who were associated with the same at different periods of history.
