Chavdar lake Satyagraha or Mahad Satyagraha was a movement led by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in a small Konkan town Mahad on 20 March 1927. This movement was launched to allow the use of public water tank by untouchables of the Hindu society. In Indian caste system, untouchables were not allowed to use water sources and roads which were used to upper caste Hindus. 20 march is observed as Social Empowerment day in India in the memory of this Satyagraha.

Mahad Satyagraha or Chavdar lake Satyagraha was a Satyagraha Movement led by Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar.

It was organized on 20th March 1927 to allow outcasts to use water from a public tank in Mahad (currently located in Raigad district), Maharashtra in India.

The day (20th March) is observed as the Social Empowerment day in India.

Mahad, a town in Konkan, was nominated for the event as it had a center of support from ' high-caste Hindus'.
