• The first list of smart cities under PM Modi's Digital India vision to cover 100 smart cities is out. Lets know some smart facts.

So, What is A Smart City ?

• Smart city will have basic infrastructure like water and power supply, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, IT connectivity, Wi-Fi, tap drinking water and automated waste collection.

• These cities will use technology to monitor the use of electricity, gas, harvesting, oil, transport and water by using information and communication technology. It will save 30 percent energy. They would provide a quality of life, comparable with any developed European city.

• Smart cities are the need of future India. According to a survey, urban population of our country will rise by 814 million by 2050. And to sustain them, we need a better India.
• A budget of Rs 6000 crores has been allocated for the development of smart cities. Now, every Indian state will have one smart city.

THE SMARTEST IN INDIA :  

• Lavasa near Pune can be termed as a Smart City or the one which is closest to the concept of a Smart City.

THE LEAST SMART IN INDIA :

• As of now, Bangalore could be said as the least Smart City. Because in the past decade, the rapid growth of the city has not matched the required resources.
