Electroplating is used in various industries to coat metal objects with a thin layer of a different metal. The layer of metal which is deposited possesses some desired property, that the metal of the object does not have. For instance, chromium plating is done on several objects like car parts, bath taps, kitchen gas burners, wheel rims and many other things because chromium is very corrosion resistant, and increases the life of the parts. Electroplating is very useful in different industries. It is also used to make inexpensive jewellery.
