The Maratha naval fleet consisted of Gurabs and Galbats. The Gurabs would weigh about 150 tons and Galbats would go upto 120 tons. The Marathas also possessed Pal ( Maratha Man Of War) which was a three mastered boat with guns mounted on its sides. Grabs carried 6-9 pounders on their broad sides and on their main sides, there were 9-12 gun pounders pointed fowards through the port-holes , cut in the bulk heads and deaigned to fire over the bows. The Gallibats carried light guns fixed on swivels; some also mounted 6-8 pieces of cannon on 2-4 pounders and all were impelled by 40 to 50 stouty oars.
