hi there,
millions of years ago when plants and vegetation get uprooted by natural calamities then these things get covered with sand and soil day by day and under high pressure and temperature dead vegetation and plants get slowly converted into coal..
But petroleum is formed by another way when organism of seas died then their bodies setteled at the bottom of the sea and then the layer of sand covers it day by day and under high pressure and temperature the bodies of organism slowly converted into petroleum...
THANK YOU..PLSS MARK AS BRAINLIEST..

Millions of years ago, when there are no human beings. And we also know every living being is mortal, animals give birth to young ones and die, the dead body of animals gets covered by sand and soil due to erosion. As the bodies go deeper and deeper the pressure and temperature increases and in these conditions anaerobic bacteria present in the dead body and soil converted the dead body to methane gas (CNG) and petroleum.
And millions of years ago huge plants and trees got buried in the soil due to various natural calamities, the anaerobic bacteria, temperature and pressure converted the trees to coal.
I hope this will help you.
