The length of a rectangle is 12 m more than twice the width. The area of the rectangle is 320 spuare meter. Write an equation that can be used to find the lenght and width of the rectangle. Also find the dimension of the rectangle.

Given:

Area = 320 square meter

Let, width be x,

then, length = 2x + 12

According to the given statement,

x * (2x + 12)= 320

=> 2x^2 + 12x = 320

=> 2x^2 + 12 x - 320 = 0

Taking common 2,

=> x^2 + 6x - 160 = 0

=> x^2 + 6x - 10x - 160 = 0

=> x(x+16)-10(x+16)= 0

=> (x+16)(x-10) = 0

=> (x+16)=0 or (x-10) = 0

So, x = -16. or. x=10

Since, dimensions can't be negative

So, x = 10

Therefore, width = 10 m

length = (10*2)+12

= 20 + 12

= 32

Now, let's verify the answer:

Area = length * breadth

and,32m * 10m = 320 m^2

So, the answer is correct.

hope it helps u.

thank u.
