Answer:

The number of red marbles in the bag is 10.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : In a bag, there were same number of marbles blue and red.

the red marbles were twice blue marbles when5 blue marbles taken out.

To find : the number of red marbles in the bag.

Solution :

Let x be the number of red marbles and y be the number of blue marbles.

Since, the number of red and blue marbles were same

⇒ x = y -------eq.(1)

Also, John took  5 blue marbles ⇒ y-5,

then the number of red marbles became twice the blue marbles.

That is, x = 2(y-5)

     ⇒ x = 2y-10

     ⇒ x= 2(x)-10

     ⇒2x - x = 10

     ⇒x= 10 and y= 10.

Therefore, the number of red marbles in the bag is 10.
