Let the amount in the beginning with Sona = S and Tina = T

Initially. Sona had three times the money than Tina had.

So. S = 3T ------------(i)

Amount Spent on buying = 480

Tina's share = 65% of 480 = 312

Remaining share will be of Sona i.e. 480-312 = 168

At the end of shopping Sona will be left with S -168 and amount left with Tina is T - 312

So, S-168 = 4 (T-312) ---------- (ii)

Put value of (i) in (ii)

3T - 168 = 4 (T - 312)

3T - 168 = 4T - 1248

T = 1080

Put value of T in (i)

S = 3 (1080) = 3240

So, Tina had 1080 in the beginning.

Given:

Sona had three times the money than Tina had.

Things = Rs. 480

Tina's share = 65 %

Sona was left with 4 times the amount that Tina had.

To find:

The amount with Tina at the beginning.

Solution:

We know,

Sona = 3 Tina

Tina's share = 65 % of 480

65 / 100 * 480

Tina's share = 312 rupees.

Remaining will be of Sona's shar.

480-312

Sona's share = 168 rupees

We get,

Sona - 168 = 4 ( Tina - 312 )

Substituting the values,

3 Tina - 168 = 4 ( Tina - 312 )

3 Tina - 168 = 4 Tina - 1248

We get,

Tina = 1080 rupees

Hence, Tina had 1080 rupees in the beginning.
