  1. The activities which are undertaken in Primary sector involve those activities in which goods are extracted by exploiting natural resources. These include agriculture, fishing, etc. This sector is also called agrocultural sector. This sector forms the back bone of the Indian economy. It provides employment to majority of people in India.
  2. The activities of secondary sector involve those activities which are related to processing and manufacturing of the goods produced in the primary sector. Since manufacturing becomes closely related with a number of industries, this sector is also called industrial sector.
  3. The activities involved in tertiary sector are related to providing services rather than produncing goods. Since this sector is more about providing services, it is also called service sector. This sector is contributing most towards the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) since last few decades.
