Earthworm are insects that hide in the soil and degrade it.

Explanation:

An earthworm is tube shaped worm found in phylum Annelida. They are found in soil where they prey on “live and dead organic” matter. The digestive system of earthworm runs through the length of the body. It conducts the respiration through body skin. The circumferential and longitudinal muscles on each segment enables the worms to move. Hence they hide in soil, stay there feed on food there and degrade there.
