Q- 3 rational numbers between 4 & 6

Method I
If a & b be two rational number such that a<b, then (a+b)/2 is a rational number between a & b
Step 1.
= 4+5/2 = 7/2
Step 2. 1st rational no. =
7/2+5/2 = 7+10/2/2 = 17/4
Step 3. 2nd rational no. = 17/4+4/2 = 16+17/4/2 = 33/8
Step 4. 3rd rational no. = 17/4+5/2 = 17+20/4/2 = 37/8

Method II
add the number which is less than one and greater than 0 with the number 4
4+1/2 = 9/2
4+1/3 = 13/3
4+1/4 = 17/4

As we know that there are infinite rational numbers between any two numbers, both the methods of solution is correct. Even there are more methods which will give some different answer, but remember they also have chances to be correct.

Hope it helped you....

alex57: According to ur answer the first rational number is 7/2 which is equal to the 3.5
alex57: which is less than 4
alex57: not in between 4 & 6
ana205: hey u r right... let me correct it
alex57: okay
ana205: now i hope it is correct ...
alex57: check out ur method one
alex57: u do one thing divide the numbers and then check whether they are greater than 4 or not
alex57: ur 7/2 and 15/4 ir wrong
