bt in both inspiration and expiration air moves from higher to lower pressure only

Inspiration is an active process because diaphragm and intercostal muscles contract during inspiration which require ATP expenditure.
Expiration is an inactive process because diaphragm and intercostal muscles relax spontaneously during expiration without expenditure of ATP.
