Broad minded mature individuals are lacking. That's the reason for destruction of peace in a country where there is freedom to religion.
And also, the government sometimes becomes biased for a particular religion. Eg: Like, the present Indian scenario!
See, in simple words, people aren't open to difference. Means, they think their religion is superior than others'. And they also mistreat others. This is the reason.
Ways to establish harmony is to stop making divisions in the society based on religions.
