In spite of freedom of religion, communal tension persist in certain parts of the country sometimes due to the following reasons:
(i) Difference of Opinion: People belonging to different social, political and economic backgrounds have different views about different issues which may create indifference.
(ii) Intolerance: People being intolerant do not accepts idea and values of people belonging to different ethnicity and culture.
iii) Prejudices: Prejudices in the society do not allow people to live in harmony. Some customs become unacceptable to few while they are norms for others
