Instead of electroplating iron with chromium why are sanitary fittings not made of chromium itself

instead of electroplatingiron with chromium sanitary fittings are not made of chromium becoz we require a strong metal which is iron iron provide strength to alloy but it gets rusted thats why we use alloy of chromium and iron

I think chromium is more expensive...so when iron is coated with chromuim, it gives the same quality in less expense
