Instead of multiplying N, a two-digit number, by and adding 38, a student multiplied the number formed by reversing its digits with and subtracted 38 from the product and still got the same result. Find the value of N given that the sum of the digits of the number is 12.

let x be the tens digit and y be the unit digit then the number will be 10x+y  and given that x+y=12  

so  

given that : (10x+y)X(3/4) + 38= (10y+x)X(4/3) - 38

           putting y=12-x or x=12-y and solving

              we get x=4 and y=8

               hence the no. is (4X10)+8=48
