INTER-SCHOOL CRICKET TOURNAMENT POSTPONED
14th August 2020
By Hazel Lee
The long-awaited inter-school cricket tournament, originally held from the 17th to 23rd of October, is now postponed due to the recent pandemic. Schools taking part in the tournament includes Ruby High, Kensington High, Kingston International, Landon Boarding School, and another 14 schools. Rumors of cancellation has also been circulating, but we have yet to receive information from the schools.
On the day of the announcement, we had interviewed many members of the Ruby High cricket school team. Peter, 17, told us that he was "heartbroken that my training had gone to waste". Mason, 17, told us that "it's a shame I couldn't experience a win before graduation". James, 16, remained optimistic saying "there's always next year". Coach Casey, 38, told us "it was a great shame that my boys could not shine this year".
Although it is a great shame as it is a highly anticipated triannual event, we strongly encourage you all to adhere to the postponement. Petitions or any movement to show refusal of the postponement will be punished by the schools. Lastly, we urge you all to follow the hygiene and sanitation practices in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.
