Intercellular shaped are absent in sclerenchyma

the cells of sclerenchyma tissue are closely packed without intercellular spaces.the main function of sclerenchyma is to provide a rigid and strong to plant part.if there would be any intercellular space ,it would not be able to provide rigidity.

sclerenchyma is a simple tissue. it is strengthening tissue.inter cellular spaces are absent in them . a layer of cell wall is composed of lignin. cell wall is uniformly thickened..... hope helpful guysss.......
