Types of Biomes
TERRESTRIAL BIOMES
Terrestrial means relating to earth or living on the ground. There are seven terrestrial biomes; the rainforest, savanna, temperate, desert, taiga, tundra, and mountain. The rainforest has a lot of rain and has a lot of vegetation. The savanna is a rolling grassland and has some rainfall with isolated trees. The temperate is the biome that we live in, in Athens, GA. It has four seasons and it's main tree is called the deciduous tree. The desert is very dry and barely has rainfall. The taiga is also known as the boreal forest or snow forest. It's main tree is the coniferous tree. The tundra is very dry and plants can hardly grow in it's frozen soil. It's like the desert but it thin ice instead of hot sand. The mountain
AQUATIC BIOMES
Aquatic means sea or living in water. There are three aquatic biomes; marine, freshwater, and estuaries. Marine is full of ocean and sea animals and it's salt water. Freshwater biomes are mainly lakes and other smaller water areas with little salt such as ponds. Estuaries are enclosed bodies of water, mixing with the salty ocean water. They are river and other streams that connect to bodies of water containing salt.
