Alauddin Khlji was the most powerful ruler of the Khilji dynasty (1296-1316)..

--》Alauddin’s real name was Juna Khan.

--》Alauddin Khilji got the Kohinoor diamond from Warangal.

--》He liked to call himself ‘The Second Alexander’. He took the title ‘Sikander-i-Sani’.

--》He conquered Gujarat, Ranathambor, Mewar, Malwa, Jalore, Warangal, Mabar and Madurai.

--》Alauddin Khilji laid his evil eyes and intentions on the land and queen of Chittor, Padmavati. He falsely befriended the King of Chittor and husband of Padmavati, King Rawal Ratan Singh.

--》He ordered the blinding of both of Jalaluddin’s (uncle’s) sons, Arkali Khan and Rukunuddin, along with the imprisonment of his widow, Malika Jahan, and accquired the wealth of nobles through force.

--》Queen Padmavati and all the women, decided to commit Jauhar, rather than becoming slaves or part of Alauddin’s harem. It is said that the heart-wrenching wails coming out from the Jauhar Kund, continued to haunt Khilji for years.

--》His burial chamber was constructed in the Qutub Complex, Mehrauli, Delhi.

--》Alauddin was formally proclaimed as the Sultan of Delhi on October 21, 1296. The 14th-century chronicler, Ziauddin Barani had recorded that Alauddin’s 1st year as the Sultan of Delhi was the happiest year that the people of Delhi had ever seen.

--》Allauddin Khilji died of Oedema in 1316 AD, leaving behind the great Khilji dynasty to his successor Qutb-ud-din Mubarak Shah.
