Interrogative Sentence :

I said to him "where are you going? [Direct speech]

Ans :\implies I asked him where he was going. [Indirect Speech]

Rules for changing interrogative direct speeches:-

  • First change the reporting verb "say" into "ask".

  • If there is a question word in the beginning of the reported speech such as "what", "why", "how", "where" etc, we put that question word after the object.

  • The question pattern : Verb + Subject changes to assertive form : Subject + Verb.

  • The speech will end with a full stop.
