As temperature increases , amount of heat applied increases.

Substance is solid till its melting point. As it reaches its melting point it starts converting into liquid.

Substance is liquid till its boiling point. As it reaches its boiling point it starts converting into gases

As temperature decreases , amount of heat applied decreases

Substance is gases till its boiling point. As it temperature falls below its boiling point it starts converting into liquid.

Substance is liquid till its melting point point. As it temperature falls below its melting point it starts converting into solid.
