Ohm's Law is defined as: V = IR.

As the power is the rate of the electric work done
P = VQ/t, but we know that Q/t = I
⇒ P= V I
But according to Ohm's law, V = IR and Q/t = I
⇒ P= IR × I
⇒ P= I²R
