An interview of my grandfather about his childhood day is given below:

Grandson: Grandpa, I was wondering how did u spend your days as a child? Is it anything like how I spend my day with friends?

Grandfather: My childhood days were very different than yours. We did not have any access to technology back then. We didn’t have a TV or phones. In my childhood days, I used to play all sorts of outdoor games like cricket, hide and seek, lagori, etc. Every child from my area, no matter what his or her age was, used to join us. We also used to play a lot of board games like chess, carroms, ludo, etc. Our games used to involve a lot of physical activities. Also, we never had any kind of junk food.  The environment was very clean. And that is why I’m still very fit, even in my 60s. We also used to go and play in the ponds nearby. We used to pluck lilies, swim, and also fish. Sometimes, we even used to make crafts like flowers from coconut leaves.

Grandson: That is very interesting! So this was what you did in the evenings. How would you describe your everyday schedule which was back then?

Grandfather: I used to wake up early every day and we siblings used to help our mother with everyday chores. We used to clean our houses, draw water from the well, feed our pet animals, and also helped our mother with cooking. This helped me a lot when I started living independently.

Grandson: Wow! You became independent at such a young age. Grandpa, is it true that you lived in a joint family and not a neutral family like me?

Grandfather: Yes, I lived in a joint family. We had a pretty big family. The best part about having a big family is that you learn to share and care. It was the love we had for the family that kept it intact. We used to help each other in everything including our studies. A sense of responsibility and leadership comes when you are a part of a big family.

Grandson: You had a very interesting childhood!
