Interview is a a form of data collection tool whereby discussions are held between two individuals or more than two people where the one asking the questions is the interviewer and the one(s) answering the questions are the interviewees.

Questionnaires is also a data collection tool in written form and has questions written in it and the interviewee is expected to fill in the blanks of the questions asked.

Though both forms of data collection are effective they have their merits and demerits.

In this case we are going to look at the bias of using interview as data collection tool over questionnaires.

4. The interviewer may ask bias questions unconsciously due to  his perceived opinion in order to confirm his bias notions, this proves to be ineffective in the case of collection of data.1. In interview an interviewee may be afraid to give the correct information due to fear that he may get reported and risk losing face or his work especially if the interview was carried in a work place.

Unlike in the use of questionnaire where the aspect of annymity which may allow the interviewee to give all the necessary information.

2. During an interview an interviewee may give sensational information which may be untrue inorder to make the interview interesting especially if they are being interviewed live on televisions or radios.

In questionnaires this aspect is not explored and one is bound to give the necessary information.

3. The interviewee may get emotionally attached to the interviewer and may give imaginary information just in order to to please the interviewer.

In the use of questionnaires, the interviewee don't interact on a personal level with the interviewer so they dont get emotionally attached thus give effective information.

Though we have explored the bias of interview as a method of data collections, it has its merits which are as follows.

1. They allow the interviewer to get the non verbal aspect of the interview from the interviewee which may not be captured in questionnaire.

2. It allows the interviewer to capture the supplementary information of the interviewee like their characteristics which may be vital in the analysis of data.

3. It allows the interviewer to exhaust all areas of the interview thus having efficient data.

4. It allows interaction with the interviewee and the interviewer thus making allowing the interviewer to have a feel of areas being discussed.
