by pythagoras theorem in
rt. tri DBC
bd = \sqrt{ {dc}^{2} + {cb}^{2} }
BD =
 \sqrt{144 + 9}
 = \sqrt{153} \: cm
now
in rt. tri ABD,
AB =
 \sqrt{ {ad}^{2} - {db}^{2} }
 = \sqrt{169 - 153} \: cm
 = \sqrt{16} \: cm
AB  = 4 \: cm
