Crops are mainly divided into 3 categories :

Rabi Crop :

  • Sown in winter from October to December.
  • Harvested in summer from April to June.
  • E.g. - Wheat , Barley, Peas and Gram etc.

Kharif Crop :

  • Grown with onset of monsoon in different parts of country.
  • Harvested from September to October.
  • E.g. - Paddy ,Maize , Jowar and Bajra etc.

Zaid Crop :

  • In between rabi and kharif seasons there is a short season during summer months known as Zaid season.
  • E.g. - Cucumber , Watermelon , Muskmelon etc.
