different society was divided into three parts first one is clergy II is nobility III includes the people artyshils merchants official court lawyers big merchants the first and second group are the privilege group which all privileges from their birth didn't have to pay the taxes to the state of church but the third estate consist of 90% of the population and they are not privilege they have to pay taxes

The French society was divided into 3 classes, namely, Clergy, Nobles and 3rd Estate.

  1. Clergy were the people of the church. They were exempted from paying taxes and collected their own share of taxes called tithes which was 10% of total harvest.
  2. Nobles were exempted from paying taxes as well and they had feudal privileges. Moreover, they collected their own share of taxes called taille.
  3. The 3rd Estate suffered the most. It included businessmen, lawyer, teacher, landless labours,etc. They only had to pay taxes and had no privilages.
