Intramolecular hydrogen bonding takes place in ortho-nitrophenol but not in paranitrophenol.

Bcuz it is depends on the presence of the bonding between the hydrogen and oxygen is near in Orthodox nitro phenol where the bond is far away compare to o- nitro phenol.
