intramolecular hydrogen bonding takes place in ortho-nitrophenol but not in para-nitrophenol why?

intramolecular hydrogen bonding does not take place in para nitro phenol b'coz there is distance b/w nitro n hydroxy grp due which they r not able to form the bond bt in ortho the grps r so near that they can form a bond....

Anonymous: this the only reason...u know in para the distance b/w NO2 and OH is so large....they r on the opposite ends and hence not able to form bond...
