Intrinsic Semiconductor:

  • These are pure semiconductors and there is no impurity in them.
  • Examples are Ge and  Si.
  • Electron density in conduction band is equal to hole density in valence band.
  • It's  Conductivity is very small.

Extrinsic Semiconductor:

  • These are formed by mixing small amount of impurity in intrinsic semiconductors.
  • These are prepared  by mixing P ,Ga in pure Si and Ge.
  • Electron and hole densities are not same.
  • It's Conductivity is comparatively high.
