The popularity of Facebook groups like Sanchari has brought many unexplored spots, ideal for tourism, to the limelight. Some tourism spots, which were less opted by the domestic tourists have now become hot destinations with youngsters organising trips frequently. One such place, which has gone viral thanks to the social media is the Areekkal waterfalls – located 35 km from Kochi at Pambakkuda panchayat in Piravom-Muvattupzha route. The silver, shimmering water cascading down from around 100 feet with forest and rubber plantations in the background is a sight to behold.
