School Management Committees or SMCs build a critical bridge between the community and the school, playing the additional role of providing oversight in schools to ensure all basic requirements of the school are being met as per the Right to Education Guidelines 2009. The Delhi Government has revived and empowered SMCs in Delhi over the past year with phenomenal results. Fellows will work on strengthening, supporting and improving the level of community engagement in SMCs. SMCs are by vision not just limited to ensuring minimum requirements are met, but can also create enabling conditions to bring stakeholders together towards achieving an effective School Development Plan.
The 5 Fellows will be be engaged in the following activities and roles:
On-ground capacity building of School Management Committees, so as to help them become collaborative, support systems for improving learning amongst students.
Strengthening the relationship between schools and parents in communities, creating broader awareness on children’s needs and supporting teachers, assisting Principals with the implementation of the School Learning Plan.
Fellows will work in developing material for the training and capacity building of SMCs and do field visits to document ongoing work by SMCs, so as to help design further SMC training.
Continuous engagement with Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRCs) to build their competencies.
Eligibility
Indian citizens or persons with PIO/OCI status, with a Bachelors degree and a minimum of two years of work experience in the field of education or in the social sector, and who are between 22-35 years of age are eligible to apply.
