Explanation:

Introduction to portfolio

The introduction should be a fully developed essay organized into 4-5 paragraphs.

The introduction to your portfolio should provide the reader with a clear overview of the writing completed during this semester. Writing the introduction will force you to consider the factors involved in the process of completing those papers and will provide an opportunity to honestly evaluate your progress in this class and as a writer in general. Remember that you should address the introduction to a reader that does not know you. Therefore, you will need to provide some essential information in reference to the type of assignments included in your portfolio and to the problems or special constraints that affected your work. While you should not sound apologetic, you also want to give an objective and sincere evaluation of your accomplishments. The following outline can be used to organize your introduction.

Answer:

Throughout my many years of having to write essays, poems, and many other works, I feel that I improve each and every year. My teachers always help me with the writing process. This year, Mrs.Vuono, has made me grow as a writer, reader, and thinker. She always makes us analyze what we read and really use our thinking caps to think “outside the box”.

One thing that I learned this year that was extremely helpful, was annotating the text when I read a book for class. It is time consuming, but so worth it in the end. It helps me to understand and point out characters, understand the setting, figurative language used, and understand what the author is trying to say.

By having the writing process of brainstorming, writing a rough draft, revising, and then writing a final draft has helped me learn from my mistakes along the way. The writing process has enabled me to make my piece better.

A risk that I had to face this year was having to a write a documented outline about integrity and ethics. We had to do a lot of research in order to write this outline, and usually I am not very good at finding accurate information through research. Another challenge was having to write the documented outline, it was very confusing, but with the help of Mrs.Vuono I was able to get through it. This year I have learned a lot about who I am as a writer.
