The battle of Plassey was fought on 23nd January 1757 at Plassey, 150 km, north of Calcutta. The battle was fought between the forces of Siraj-ud-Daulah, the Nawab of Bengal and Company forces under Robert Clive. The highest ranked army Generals of the Nawab had conspired against the Nawab and thus did't take part in the battle. So the British forces defeated the Nawab and installed puppet Mir Jaffar as the Nawab of Bengal.

The causes of the battle were the fortification of fort William by the British and its siege by Nawab and killing of British men in a glass made tiny room.(Black Hole Tragedy)

The battle of Plassey lead the Company to make huge sums of money which has described as Plassey Plunder. The battle of Plassey paved the way for the beginning of British Empire in Bengal and ultimately in India.
