This is a commercial project, which involves a construction of a cultural centre/ library near the centre of Oldcross. The client is the Oldcross Borough Council - Department of Community Services.

As the advisor of this project, gleeds Projects Management and Quantity Surveying has been appointed. gleeds is one of the most leading project managers and cost managers in Europe and MENA region.

For this project, Design and Build Method has been considered as the procurement method by the appointed project advisor. gleeds will employ a team of key professionals who will provide full time advisory service upon the contractors’ proposal with regards to the design, cost and the other commercial issues. For DCS to be clearer regarding this design and build procurement method, gleeds has divided its process in to several phases according to the RIBA plan of work as project brief, feasibility study, tender documentation, concept design, tender and contracting, detailed design and construction and commission and hand over. Following diagram gives a rough idea about it, and it shows clearly about the responsibilities of each party at each stage. Responsibility of DCS and gleeds Design and Build Contractor. 1st Stage 2nd stage In the 1st stage of the project (project brief, feasibility study and tender documentation) the responsibilities lie upon the DCS and gleeds, whereas in the 2nd stage design and build contractor should be responsible.
