DEFINITION -

Lenses are transparent refracting medium bounded by two curved surfaces which are generally sperical .

=============================

TYPES -

1) convex lens [ () ]
2) concave lens [ )( ]

=============================

CONVEX LENS

the lens bulges out in the middle.

a light beam converges on passing through a convex lens so it is also called a converging lens.

a convex lens may be of the following three types :-
1) bi-convex
2) Plano convex
3) concavo convex

a biconvex lens has both its surface convex .
Plano convex lens has one surface plane and others surface convex .
a concaveo convex lens has one surface convex and the other surface concave such that it is thicker in the middle as compared to the Periphery.

=============================

CONCAVE LENS

lens diverges the light rays incident on it so it is also called the divergent lens

a concave lens maybe of the following three types :-
1)bi concave
2)Plano concave
3)convexo concave

bi concave lens has one of its surface concave
a Plano concave lens has one of its surface plane and the other side face concave
a convexo concave lens has one surface concave and the other surface on which such that it is thinner in the middle and thicker at the Periphery.
