Given : investor X invested in three stock equally return on his portfolio is 18%.

return of stock is A is 14%

return of stock b is 15%

To Find :   the return on stock C

Solution:

Let say invested in each stock  = 100X

and   return on stock C = y %

return of stock   A is 14% = (14/100)100X = 14X

return of stock   B  is 15% = (15/100)100X = 15X

return of stock   C  is Y% = (y/100)100X = Xy

Total Return = 14X + 15X + Xy

Total investment = 100X + 100X + 100X = 300X

return on his portfolio is 18%.

=> return = (18/100)300X  = 54X

14X + 15X + Xy   = 54X

=> 14 + 15 + y  = 54

=> y = 25

the return on stock C is 25 %
