Answer:

The word cold denotes.......

i) The bleak, bitter, and brutal cold in the environment over there......due to which those 6 fellows were around that same fireplace .......inspite of the hatred they had in their heart for each other....

ii) Their cold heartedness which prevented them from putting their logs in that fire..........which later on became a reason for their death......

They didn't die from the cold environment........rather they died from the cold within their heart......thats they died from their cold heartedness........bcoz each of the 6 people over there possessed a log which could have saved all of them from the clutches of death........but they were hesitant in putting their logs in the fire bcoz each one of them had hatred towards the other for some or the other reason.........such as.....they possessed the sin of racial discrimination....religious intolerance.....envy.....etc.....

Each of the 6 sticks possessed by each person was symbolic of the sin hidden in their heart........which later took their lives......

I hope this will help you ⭐⭐⭐
