Explanation:

Iodine does not melt on heating. But it will vaporize on heating and this process of changing phase from solid to gas directly is called sublimation. While undergoing sublimation there will be no liquid state for Iodine. When Iodine crystals are heated violet color gas is formed instead of a liquid solution.
