NUMERICALS ON ACCELERATION
car starts from rest and picks up a velocity of 18 m/s in 10 seconds. Calculate the acceleratio
car.
Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s (as the car starts from rest]
Final velocity (v) = 18 m/s
Time (t) = 10 sec

Acceleration =

Given:-

  • Initial velocity of car ,u = 0m/s

  • Final velocity ,v = 18m/s

  • time taken ,t = 10 s

To Find:-

  • Acceleration of the car ,a

Solution:-

As we know that acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity at per unit time.

• a = v-u/t

where,

v is the final velocity

a is the acceleration

u is the initial velocity

t is the time taken

Substitute the value we get

→ a = 18-0/10

→ a = 18/10

→ a = 1.8 m/s²

Therefore, the acceleration of the car is 1.8 m/.

Additional Information !!

Some equation of motion are

  • v = u +at

  • s = ut +1/2at².

  • v² = u² + 2as

Here,

v is the final velocity

u is the initial velocity

a is the acceleration

s is the displacement or Distance

t is the time taken
