Ionic Bond :-

A chemical bond formed by complete transference of electrons from one

atom (metal) to another (non-metal) and hence, each atom acquires the

stable nearest noble gas configuration, is called ionic bond or

electrovalent bond .

Example : formation of sodium chloride = NaCl

Answer:

Ionic bond is a complete transfer of electrons from one atom to an other.

Explanation:

Ionic bonding occurs between metals of group IA, IIA and sometimes IIIA with the non metals of group VI A and VII A.

Ionic bond occurs to stabilize an atom's valance shell

Remember these 4 conditions:

It always occurs between metals and non metals.

It is a complete transfer of electrons from the valence shell.

Metals always lose electron and become a positive ion

Non-metals always gain electron, becoming a negative ion

Metals are always written at the start of the formula.

Example:

NaCl (common table salt)

where Sodium (Na or natrium) is metal and Chlorine (Cl) is a non metal
