Ionic salts do not conduct electricity in solid state but conducts electricity in molten state

because in solid state ions are not free but are held together by an electrostatic force of attraction hence it does not conduct electricity (due to absence of free ions) but in molten state, the high temperatures required to melt the solid weakens the bond between the particles and ions are set free
