Hey there!

Answer :

Ionic solids do not conduct electricity in solid state because ions are not free to move, whereas in molten state, they conduct electricity because ions are free.

Hey !!

In the molten state, ionic solids ionise to give free ions and hence can conduct electricity. However, in the solid state, since the ions are free to move about but remain held together by strong electrostatic force of attraction, they behave as insulator.

Hope it helps you !!
