Hey there,
As we know that half or full filled shell are always more stable as compared to any other configuration. Now look,
Nitrogen- 1s2,2s2,2p3
Oxygen- 1s2,2s2,2p4
P block can contain a maximum of 6 electrons and Nitrogen has 3 electrons in p shell whereas Oxygen got 4.
So Nitrogen is more stable and it requires more energy as compared to oxygen hence have a greater ionization enthalpy.
