Nitrogen configuration

= 1s^2 2s^2. 2p^3

Oxygen configuration

= 1s^2 2s^2 2p^4

As nitrogen contains half filled p orbitals. therefore higher amount of energy is needed to remove an electron due to its half filled stability

So IP of nitrogen is higher than that of oxygen
