Given:

There are Rs 100

1 plate = Rs 5

1 glass = Rs 3

40 spoons = Rs 1

Solution:

Since spoons will have to be bought in multiples of 40:

We will first buy 1 set of spoons.

⇒ Item we have = 40 spoons

⇒ Amount left = 100 - 1

⇒ Amount left = Rs 99

Now with Rs 99, we know that 99 is divisible by 3 but not by 5:

We will buy as many $5 plates as possible

⇒ Number of plates that can be bought = 99 ÷ 5

⇒  Number of plates that can be bought = 19 Remainder R4

⇒ Item we have : 40 spoons and 19 plates

⇒ Amount  left = 99 - (19 x 5)

⇒ Amount left = Rs 4

Now with Rs 4, we know that 4 is divisible by 1 but not by 3:

We will buy as many glass as possible

⇒ Number of glass that can be bought = 4 ÷ 3

⇒ Number of glass that can be bought = 1 Remainder Rs 1

⇒ Item we have : 40 spoons,  19 plates and 1 glass

⇒ Amount  left = 4 - 3

⇒ Amount left = Rs 1

Now with Rs 1, we will buy another set of spoons:

⇒ Number of spoons that can bought = 40

⇒ Item we have : 80 spoons,  19 plates and 1 glass

⇒ Amount left = 1 - 1

⇒ Amount left = Rs 0

Answer:  80 spoons,  19 plates and 1 glass

Given :   no glass for Rs 3 ,01 no plate is 05 rupees and 40 nos spoons only Rs 01.  100 items to be bought in exactly Rs 100

To Find :   how many spoons, plates and glasses can be bought

Solution:

1 no glass for Rs 3 ,

01 no plate is 05 rupees

40 nos spoons only Rs 01

We can buy spoons 0  , 40  or 80

0 Spoon not possible as   (glass & plates are costlier than rs 1 each)

so we would not be able to buy 100 items in Rs 100

if We buy 40  Spoons in Rs 1

we are left with Rs 99

in 99 Rs maximum we can buy 99/3  = 33 Glasses

40 + 33 = 73 < 100

so we would not be able to buy 100 items in Rs 100

so  40 Spoons also not possible

80 Spoons in Rs 2

We left with Rs  98

and we need to buy  in total  100 - 80 = 20 (Glasss & Plates)

G + P = 20    Eq1

3G + 5P = 98   Eq2

Eq2 - 3 * Eq1

=> 5P - 3P = 98 - 60

=> 2P = 38

=> P = 19

   G = 1

1  Glass    - Rs 3

19 Plates  - Rs 95

80 Spoons - Rs 2

100 items   - Rs  100

80 Spoons , 19 Plates and 1 Glass can be bought in Rs 100
